In Honour of Heather Heyer, Charlottesville

So much has been written about events in Charlottesville that anything by me would be now superfluous.

Instead, I’ve created this artwork to honour Heather Heyer, who was murdered by a white supremacist who drove his car into anti-fascist demonstrators in Charlottesville. Heather fought for decency, kindness and against injustice.

The eagle in flight represents her courage and steadfastness in standing on the side of the people and the injustices suffered in the community. The rays of light reflect the heritage she has bequeathed of compassion, courage and ongoing struggle and organisation for justice, equality, respect and against the forces of racism and white supremacy.

The bright colours top and bottom reflect the forces of positivity, optimism and determination to fight for a society where people are respected and honoured regardless of their colour, race, sexuality or religion.

We stand in hope because we will not allow the forces of evil and hatred to thrive, we will pull them out by their roots and in their place plant hope, love, kindness and tolerance.

Earth Guardians

This is another image incorporating standing stones – I have the feeling that they are activating around the world, sending energy through ley lines, to offer love and support for defence of Planet Earth and for humanity’s journey from a society based on mega-profit for the few to one of peace, co-operation, compassion, respect for all regardless of income, and good health, educational, welfare and housing services. As the possibility develops of working less hours, the opportunities open to feed and nurture people’s creativity and collective organisation on a scale never seen in history.

I live in hope!

Evolution of New Communities

evoluton-of-new-communitiesAlthough things are really rather chaotic around the world, I feel we are living in exciting times because the old way of doing things is fading away as new ways come into being.

We are literally at a huge turning point in humanity history where Western white dominance is starting to fade away as rainbow nations in the East particularly come to the fore to replace the mono-culture of the past few centuries.

More than that, the dominance of a small, filthy rich elite is in such contrast to declining fortunes for the rest of us that the whole system of big business monopoly is becoming more and more untenable.

Will this happen overnight? Of course not. It’s rather like a giant aircraft carrier starting to change tack, very slowly, and for sure – as the white vote for Trump has shown – those who have benefited from the old system are going to put up a lot of resistance.

But all we’ve got to do is look at the upsurge of people’s action in all shapes and forms since Trump got elected as president.  There’s huge cause for optimism for fundamental change – just let’s keep our eyes on a better system and don’t let change be derailed by the old elite as it was in Egypt.

Dissolving Walls, Building Rainbow Communities

dissolving-walls-creating-rainbow-worldsI never quite know what’s going to emerge when I start a piece of digital art, basically I just see where the images take me as I build them up. This is the result of playing around with Toolwiz yesterday and I think the title of this post is self-explanatory, doesn’t need any more words from me!
