A Walk on the Quiet Side

We had a power cut this morning which meant that all things technological ceased functioning. So I decided to enjoy the quiet time, read my kindle, then took myself off to bed for a couple of hours as I had severe sciatica in my left hip and leg. When I awoke, the pain had eased, so I continued enjoying the peace and quiet, with Maggie Mae’s head on my lap and stroking her and feeling so relaxed. Maggie Mae is the young Border Collie we are currently fostering while we search for a home for her.

When the power came back on, I created this image to honour our need for down time and to enjoy that time WITHOUT FEELING GUILTY!  We don’t need to be doing something all the time, we can spoil ourselves and nurture our body, mind and spirit with a bit of rest and relaxation. It does us a power of good and helps our creativity and self-healing.

  1. Good to hear, that you used your extra time for taking care of yourself. Maggie Mae has been enjoying, I feel sure 🙂
You are right, we need to take time for ourselves without feeling guilty at all.

  2. Oh Mo, this is beautiful and you are spot on….we do need down time even if it happens we have no control over it…..sometimes those power outages have given me a chance to experience wondrous adventures ..

    • Yes, had another power cut today – decided I’d use the quiet time to unpack my winter clothes and pack my summer gear. Bryan walked in with the suitcases holding winter clothing – and the power came on. However, I did do the unpacking, took my time, and finally chucked out summer dressed I really hated!
