Kyrenia, North Cyprus

As some of you mentioned your interest in North Cyprus, here are some photos of Kyrenia, a historic port on the north shores of North Cyprus.  It’s a lovely little town, part modern, part old, with a Round House in the Middle, a historic castle on the edge of the harbour, winding, narrow streets, a mosque, a Christian church, a historic graveyard in the town centre, lots of restaurants and cafes, various small shops selling anything from perfumery, jewellery and stationery to haberdashery, clothing and mobile phones,  and absolutely chaotic traffic!

  1. We moved here in 2012 from Australia, Cynthia, and passed our 2 year anniversary on 21st February. We love it here – the climate is great, hot summers and mild winters, the people are really lovely, incredibly friendly and helpful, and the scenery is gorgeous. It’s also much cheaper than living in the UK and Australia. The traffic is insane – there is one rule: there are no rules! But I also love visiting the historical sites and knowing I’m walking where others walked a thousand and more years ago.
