>This is another piece of art I created for Art Every Day Month, I’ve lost track of what dayit is because I’m about 15-16 hours ahead in time so the days get muddled for me. But never mind, onwards and upwards!
I found a really nice picture of flowers in Yoga Journal, so cut them out and then fiddled with what I wanted to do with them. I knew I wanted them in one corner, and then decided to do a base of a mixture of green and white pearlescent acrylic paints. Then I pasted on the flower picture and sat back, a bit unsure of what else I wanted to put in the pic. I fiddled with the idea of a bird, or a butterfly, and got as far as doodling the outline of a butterfly on a separate piece of paper.
Then I got an image of a heart and that felt right. So I worked with watercolour pencils to create the heart, as I quite liked the idea of the heart being transparent with just a light shadow of colour over the base paints. It worked out quite well. Once the watercolours had dried, I then added on some extra colours in pearl pastels, with a shading of turquoise pearl pastels around the heart and the flowers.
This reminds me of a heart flying, but being transparent as it takes off, so that it is open to all experiences, whatever they are, whether it be joy, grief, happiness, sorrow, anger or whatever. Perhaps it’s the ability to embrace equanimity in the face of whatever we experience here on earth, knowing the love is the most powerful engine of the heart.
